Research & Resources

Over the period of last 48 years Dr. T V Patel eye Institute has contributed extensively to prevention of blindness in the state. Fortunately, unlike other states our state has various such institutes and therefore the cataract backlog in the state is minimum compared to other states.

However, though the state is ahead and has been effective in reducing the backlog of cataract blindness, it is unfortunate that the research and training institute are very few across the state. We at our hospital felt the growing need of an institute in the state, which is fully equipped and has trained super specialty surgeons to train the fresh postgraduates. To take up the challenge of blindness, tvpei has recognized the need to develop human resources.

Ophthalmologists, optometrists and support service personnel.

Several training program have been designed to develop ophthalmic manpower. Catering to all levels of ophthalmic teaching and training, these are intended not only for ophthalmologists but also for ophthalmic technicians, opticians and clinical assistants. Dissemination of knowledge and skills in eye care will not only satisfy the needs of the institution but also take care of the needs of the country. Continuing Medical Education program and workshops are offered on a regular basis.

We have also recognized the need for both development of clinical research and also its application in eye care. A separate medical education and research department has been created to fulfill this.
